The Isthmus’ Rich Albertoni described this Madison duo’s 2009 release, Turning Home, as…”a set of down-tempo acoustic love songs rooted in jazz, blues and folk. The CD thrives on the marriage of Thomas Burns’ delicate and reflective songwriting and Sue Prodell’s emotional vocals…(with) an element of mystery.” In their own words, “Sunburned Americana”.

CD Release Party! Mark’s dead-on pop songwriting is undeniably destined for film-tracks and major radio-play. If you haven’t heard him yet–now’s your best chance!
An accomplished and dedicated songwriter, Lamps has worked with many clients and collaborators, and will also be featuring his own music in addition to accompanying Mark Harrod.
Nancy Rost has been called “the love child of Tom Lehrer and Tom Waits” (KnowYourMusic.com). Her distinctive songs combine a jazz-influenced piano style with lyrics that are quirky, witty and heartfelt, often all at once.
L.A. songwriter Michael Miller performs his beautiful slow tempo songs.
Part II of the Touring Songwriters Showcase from November 3. Delaney Davidson stops by on this leg of his U.S. tour. A New Zealand native, he shares stories of his world travels and shows his gritty songwriting style. A must listen!
These Milwaukee-based seasoned veterans blend Celtic, Blues, Americana, Shanty, Jazz, Creole, Folk, Art-Rock, Reggae, Comedy and original songs into something that can only be described as “eclectic acoustic.” Brandishing an impressive arsenal of musical instruments (resonator guitar, mandolin, ukulele, fiddle, pennywhistle, squeeze box, flute, harmonica, doumbek, djembe, and bodhran - just to name a few) they bring new life to tales of old, old sounds to tales of today, and twisted takes on tales never meant to be told.
Known for his audience interaction, funny and unique performances for all ages, and songs made up right on the spot, Ken is also a theatrical composer and performer as well as a minstrel for the environment. Frankly, we don’t know what to expect, but whatever it is, it’ll be great!
“Stiernberg is the foremost jazz mandolinist in America today” (Mike Marshall) “I’ve always had the highest regard for his mandolin style-understated, subtle, and sweet.” (David Grisman)
(Al Day, Mike McDougal, and Midge Brzozowski)
A highly talented quartet of both Madison and Chicago musicians who have all paid their dues on the Chicago folk scene. Look forward to great music and stories about places and characters from the Windy City.
Classic Honky Tonk and Western Swing replete with twin fiddles, steel guitar, and guys in matching Western-wear. Dan O’Brien (one of the co-founders of the Nob Hill Boys) leads the pack with his strong tenor vocals, guitar, and banjo.
With a new CD almost complete these boys are ready to swing you silly! Chris Ruppenthal & Ed Fila (Caravan’s twin- guitar front line) fire off authentic-sounding Django-inspired leads even on their well-crafted original tunes.
(This is the) Squirrel Hunters is a traditional Bluegrass co-op from Madison, WI. In the band’s own words…”we make regular musical forays outside the protective walls of Bill Monroe, The Stanley Brothers and Flatt & Scruggs, but always with caution, and never without a long rifle.”

CopperBox is an outstanding band out of Oshkosh. They won the 2009 WAMI “Americana” category (which means “hard to classify”). They tag themselves as zydeco/rock/polka but that doesn’t cover it all. Their polka version of Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd is just one example of how eclectic they are. They also do cumbia, jigs, ballads, etc. Some of their best tunes are ones they wrote, but they do some great covers, ranging from Moondance to Tell Me That You Love Me (to give you some idea of their range).
Their latest CD, In the Summertime, was released on July 8th, 2009, and channels the rowdy communal feel of a small town party with a groovy rhythm section and soulful accordion. CopperBox has a fun-fusion sound (Zydeco, rock, and jazz) that attracts a unique and diverse audience. Touring aggressively and playing 120+ shows a year, they have appeared on several TV shows, as well as The Early Show on CBS and countless radio stations (college & community) in the US. Garageband.com has selected many CopperBox songs in their Top 10, and their energetic live shows won them a Hi-Def Music Video sponsored by SONY in 2005.
